Please leave your adult mind at the door and enter into the galleries with your child’s mind of Fantasy and Imagination.
When my son was in college and came home for the summer, I told him I had found a beautiful clear little pond that was above the Potomac River right before it tumbled into it. This pond had minnows in it and was surrounded by rocks with Moss, and there were beautiful ferns everywhere. Dragonflies darted above the pond and it truly seemed magical.
I used to sit by the pond and reflect and just enjoy myself. There was an opening that looked like a cozy cave on the far side of the pond. Small shrubs and ferns around the opening made it seem secret and even more magical. I began to Imagine Raggedy Ann and Andy living there.
My son and I decided to walk down to the pond. It’s about a 30 minute walk with stream crossings and ferns and Moss and rocks all in beautiful Woodlands. As we were walking along I said to my son, “How tall do you think Raggedy Ann & Andy are?” He lifted his right hand and made a specific height of about 3 1/2 feet tall. Then, after a moment he turned and looked at me and said “Mom!!!” All of a sudden his adult, masculine, linear, rational mind stepped in and was saying , “What are you doing?” He realized he had momentarily been pulled into my fun and fantasy reality.
So I’m inviting you while you’re spending time in these galleries to let your inner child accompany you and enjoy each other and fun and playfulness. Tell your adult self you’ll have plenty of time for seriousness after you leave. ENJOY THE GALLERIES!
